FAQs
Can I combine these spindles with other designs?
Yes! We have a range of other black metal spindles available here at Jackson Woodturners that have different designs. You can choose to mix this spindle with others with knuckles, waves, frames and more to make your staircase much more visually interesting.
How do I clean these spindles?
Cleaning indoor spindles is fairly straightforward as long as you keep in mind the different needs of the two materials used in this specific design.
Use a soft cloth to remove dust buildup from your entire spindle regularly. You can also use a mild dish soap and warm water to do a deeper clean of the black metal areas, drying thoroughly afterwards with a soft towel.
Oak areas can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth if they have any stubborn grime spots, but be sure to use as little water as possible and thoroughly dry afterwards to avoid water damage. No matter what material your spindles are made from, you should avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive scrubbers.
How many of these spindles will I need?
The number of spindles you’ll need will depend on the measurements of your staircase. The gap between each one can be no larger than 99mm to adhere to safety regulations, but you can customise the distance within this limit to suit your design tastes.
Why not give our handy spindle spacing calculator below a try? As long as you know your measurements and your chosen spindle type, we’ll handle the calculations for you! Alternatively, you can find out more about the process on our spacing information page.
