Description
Featuring a stunning turned design in its centre, this spindle is part of the Oak range of modern and traditional stair parts available here at Jackson Woodturners. The Teesdale design spans across the middle 415mm, with the plain spindle remaining to form a top block of 190mm and a bottom block of 295mm.
Our Teesdale spindles are designed to sit in a 32mm groove on both hand and base rails, and will arrive with you unfinished. This means you can completely customise your spindles with paint, varnish, or wax, and choose the right rails to suit your aesthetic.

FAQs
What kind of design features on an Oak Teesdale Spindle?
The Teesdale spindles from Jackson Woodturners feature a classic hourglass mid-section that is created using traditional woodturning techniques. This design then transitions smoothly into the square, unturned blocks at the top and bottom of the spindle.
It’s these unturned blocks that allow the spindle to fit firmly into a hand or base rail that has a 32mm groove carved out, creating a seamless look no matter what style you choose.
What kind of home does the Oak Teesdale Spindle suit?
Thanks to the combination of the oak material and the visual interest provided by the turned design, the Teesdale spindle is perfect for both modern and traditional homes.
Oak is a warm wood, meaning it pairs really well with the neutral decor and cosy interiors you’ll often find in older homes. The design that’s added to the midsection maintains this with its soft edges, whilst bringing the part into the modern era with some variation in the typical profile.
How many Oak Teesdale Spindles will I need for my staircase?
There are a couple of ways you can figure out how many spindles you’ll need for your staircase, but this typically involves some complicated calculations that make the process that much harder.
This is why we’ve created our spindle spacing calculator! As soon as you’ve chosen the spindles you’d like to install and have the measurements of your staircase to hand, we’ll take care of the rest!
Use the calculator above, or find out more about getting your spindle quantity right the first time on our information page.
How far apart do my Oak Teesdale Spindles need to be?
As well as the design and finish of your spindles, the distance between them is another way to make your staircase unique to your home and style.
The size of the gap between your spindles is entirely up to you, but it's important to remember that there are safety restrictions. UK building regulations state that the space between spindles can be no larger than 99mm to prevent small children from falling through.
