Glass panels used in a modern staircase design are constructed from toughened glass, making them four times as strong as normal glass. There is a range of glass panel designs, including:
Square-edged panels suitable for stair pitches between 40 and 43 degrees, and designed for use only with other components from the Richard Burbidge range of modern stair parts.
Contemporary panels with short curved edges, suitable for non-grooved handrails and base rails and designed to be used with fusion glass brackets.
Curve-edged panels suitable for use with Clarity glass fixing brackets and non-grooved handrails.
With each range of glass panels, there are rake panels and landing panels to choose from. Landing panels are designed to be fitted to the balustrade on the landing, while rake panels act like spindles on the balustrade of the stairs themselves, and are angled to match the pitch of the bannister.
Glass staircases might be a contemporary choice, but the type of stair material combined with them can dramatically alter the overall look and feel of a home.
